Review:

I was skeptical of this book when I first picked it up. I was prepared for a sad story. As an animal lover, I can feel my heart break when I hear about animal cruelty and abuse. I honestly didn’t know if I would be able to read the entire book.
After I began reading I was surprised by the book. There is a lot of hope in this story. It offers a glimpse of what a dog longs for in life, and it is heartwarming. I did cry a little while I was reading Welcome Home, but my tears were not all from sadness. This book touched my heart.
I plan to share this book with a few middle school aged children that I hold near and dear. Not only is Welcome Home a good book for young readers, but it will capture their attention, and they are not likely to forget this book. I also think that after reading this book, children will understand that animals have feelings too, and wish for some of the same things that they do, to be loved and treated kindly.
